New CP Assumes Duty in Enugu, Assures Of Fighting Crime, Criminality

Newly posted Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Aliyu, has assumed duties at police headquarters in Enugu, while assuring residents of his readiness to fight crime and criminality in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement made available to newsmen said that Aliyu is the 24th Commissioner of Police since the creation of Enugu State.

The statement said that Aliyu takes over from Mr Ahmad Abdurrahman, outgoing Commissioner of Police in the state, who is proceeding to National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos, Plateau State on Executive Management Course.

“CP Aliyu hails from Dafa in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“He is a graduate of Political Science from the prestigious Bayero University Kano; attended several career and professional courses both within and outside the country.

“He enlisted into the Nigeria Police in 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has served in different Commands, Formations and Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“He has served as Deputy Commissioner, Federal Operations; and the pioneer Disaster Management Officer at Force Headquarters, Abuja; Commissioner of Police in Borno State Command; and until his deployment to the Command, was the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command of the Force’’.

Meanwhile, the new commissioner has assured commitment to foster the best policing practices in order to rid the state of acts of crime and criminality.

“I enjoin residents of Enugu to remain vigilant, law-abiding and supportive to make this goal a reality,’’ he added.
