Okorocha Insists He Solidly Remains With APC

Former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has surprisingly made a u turn by debunking reports that he is leaving the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Okorocha spoke at the weekend, saying those who came into the party through Ben Johnson way, have made the APC not to be formidable anymore.

The Senator had announced his plans to join forces with notable politicians of progressive stock in the country, to float a new political party in the country.

According to a statement by Sam Onwuemedo, the Senator’s media aide, Okorocha while addressing a faction of the APC led by Dan Nwafor, said the public should disregard the speculation, that he is on his way out.

“I have not left APC. I am still in APC. Nobody has stake more than me. The worst insults I had in Imo and in the South East in 2015, was because of APC and President Buhari. APC was formed by President Buhari, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, myself and few other people. But those on congratulation trip, have taken over the party” the statement quoted Senator Okorocha to have said.

”Our party is APC. Don’t be confused when I said that there were bad people and good people in both APC and PDP. And that the good people in the two parties should come together for the good of the nation. I was talking about a movement and not party” the statement quoted Okorocha to have said.

This newspaper gathered that Okorocha came under intense pressure after announcing plans to leave APC and form a new party.

His political family, the Rescue Mission risks possible disintegrating if he had not reassured them that he is very much around in the ruling party.
