A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, declined to revoke the bail it earlier granted to the convener of #RevolutionNow protest Omoleye Sowore and his co-defendant Olawale Bakare.
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, however, awarded a punitive cost of N150, 000 against Mr Bakare owing to his failure to appear for the continuation of their trial.
The ruling followed an application that was made by counsel to the Federal Government Aminu Alilu who is from the office of the attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice.
News Update: Court Grants Sowore Bail
Mr Sowore and his co-defendant are facing two counts of treasonable felony charges for allegedly calling for the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari by revolution.
The Federal Government had on December 11, 2020, called its first witness Rasheed Olawale a principal staff officer of the Department of State Service (DSS).
Justice Ojukwu adjourned the case to April 28 and 29 for continuation of hearing.
