The youth wing of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has berated a viral picture of military operations in Orlu area of Imo State in south eastern Nigeria. We reported that some footage of the airstrikes shared online by residents of the area have shown people being subjected to military actions.

 

Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has declared his intention to run for the governorship of Anambra in the November 6 poll. Soludo would be running on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Declaring his ambition on Thursday in Awka, he said he had been a party man since 2013 and would be better if APGA offered him the ticket.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has urged the Supreme Court to reverse the December 16, 2020 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which voided the conviction and sentencing of the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, and his firm, Destra Investments Limited.

 

Lawmakers in Anambra state have expressed concerns over the rising cases of killings in the state. They say they are unhappy with state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, over this development. The lawmakers literally fumed at plenary on  after the member representing Ogbaru II constituency, Somtochukwu N. Udeze raised an alarm over the killing of four persons in Ogwu- Ikpere in Ogbaru, with their houses razed down by unknown hoodlums.

 

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the recently appointed Director-General of the World Trade Organization says her new appointment will open doors for Africans and women to head global associations. Okonjo-Iweala said this during an interview with Arise TV ahead of her resumption into the office on Monday, March 1, 2021.
