Greetings from across the Atlantic

Fellow Anambrarians,

I send you very warm regards from the United States of America on this occasion of my 36th birthday.

As one of you, I realize the importance of reaching out at periodic intervals and it is for this reason that I consider it expedient to do same at a time when we have coming ahead in the next couple of months another chance to elect for ourselves, leaders who will handle the sacred instruments of statescraft for an initial four years.

As we all know, Anambra State is fast approaching another elections and as I write, it is common knowledge that many distinguished citizens of our dear state, having indicated interest to run are at different stages of subtle campaigns.

For many, elections is about voting but for me, it is much more – it is an opportunity for Anambra people to select for themselves a leader from among only individuals who are contesting on the strength of what they plan to do to drive progress and stimulate development; not essentially what they have done in the past because just like everything associated with the past like science, technology and even knowledge, leadership and business models can be obsolete.

I therefore urge us all to exercise great care in fulfilling our most important civic duty.

Anambra is a Nigerian state which can rightly be listed as a TIER ONE state ranking side by side Lagos, Ogun, Kano, Rivers and the FCT.

This simply means that the stakes are high and the expectations are also high – justifiably so.

The President of the United States of America, Mr. Joseph Biden doubles as the President of the world.

It is in the same vein that it has been argued that from a standpoint of economic management, any governor of Lagos State is the de facto President of Nigeria in consideration of what Lagos represents to Africa.

Anambra State on the other hand has and still remains the most recurrent yardstick used in measuring various development indices in the South East if not the entire old East Central States.

This clearly suggests that in line with the status of Anambra State, an ideal governor of Anambra State, beyond being governor is also first amongst His peers; East of the Niger and must therefore be an individual with thorough education, strong inter-regional acceptability, an exceptional capacity to lead from the front, an unusual vision, an untainted integrity and an unquestionable commitment to excellence.

He must be one who can stand tall before Nigeria and Nigerians without fear of the unknown or a potential to be cowed into silence at the various platforms where the patrimony of Nigeria are apportioned.

My dear people of Anambra, leadership is the major difference between developed countries and emerging economies. The time has come for Anambra to consolidate on the gains of the last few years.

Beyond the usual goodwill sentiments shared over birthdays, I appeal to us all to not be fencists but competitive owners of the political process that will birth a new government – one that will answer to Anambra people without fear and inspire hope. This starts with registration at the ward level.

The Igbo race stands on the tripod of UCHE, UCHU & EGWU CHUKWU.

These ethos must at all times guide our choices of leaders – suffice to say that, each potential leader must be an embodiment of rational thinking, deep reasoning and the fear of God.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance clearly holds the ace and parades a list of candidates who command respect globally. Anambra will always get it right with the APGA notwithstanding who the mantle falls in.
