The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has sent a thin vieled threat to the Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe after the launching of the new security outfit in the commercial city of Onitsha, Onitsha Ado Vigilante Network.

The Obi of Onitsha had, on Saturday 20th March, 2021, at Ime-Obi Eze Onitsha, launched a a Vigilante group to help curb the menace of the Unknown Gunmen in the area and other security challenges, which also will help to contain the activities of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Reacting to the news, Nnamdi Kanu, taking to his Twitter handle, warned the Onitsha traditional ruler not to allow his office to be used to ferment trouble for ESN around Onitsha and environs.

In another post, Nnamdi Kanu hailed the “avengers of the innocent killed by police and army”, saying:

“The cry of the blood of the innocent has reached Heaven.
Psalm 125:3 “The rod [gun] of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil. #UGM, avengers of the innocent killed by police & army.
#Karma”

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has protested the choice of colour for the branding of the vehicles donated for the Onitsha Ado Vigilante Network.

The NSCDC said the colour conflicted with theirs while urging the Vigilante Network to immediately repaint all their vehicles to avoid clash of interest.
