Aba Bye-Election: APC Yet To Acknowledge Result

The All Progressives Congress Chairman in Abia State, Donatus Nwankpa, says the party is still studying the outcome of Saturday’s bye-election in Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency.

Nwankpa, who acknowledged INEC’s credibility during the election.

He noted that PDP manipulated the election in some areas.

Nwankpa said the election went on well without any cause for alarm, adding “but there were some places there were manipulations and they including Sports Club, Abia Poly, Asannetu, Ohabiam, Iheorji and some other areas”.

According to him, the manipulations were by the PDP.

He declared knowledge of an explosion at Umuola community Hall, Aba and described it as “unfortunate”.

After studying the situation, he said the party will come out with a statement.

Meanwhile, Chimaobi Ebisike of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) has been declared winner of Saturday’s Aba North and South Federal Constituency bye-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer for the constituency, Professor Fidelis Okpata of the Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State announced Ebisike polled 10,322 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mascot Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress candidate(APC) who scored 3,674 votes.

Candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Destiny Nwagwu, and the Action Alliance (AA) candidate; Okey Prestige, polled 1,554 and 199 votes respectively to come distant 3rd and 4th while the candidates of the APM and NRM scored 10 and 13 votes respectively.
