Former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman of Tafa local government area in Niger state, Sule Ishaya has been assassinated by gunmen and whisked away his wife to an unknown destination.
We learnt that the Gunmen invaded the house of Ishaya on Sunday night in New Bwari community of Tafa and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife before shooting him.
Family Sources told newsmen that the Gunmen had gained entrance into the house of the deceased using a ladder to scale the fence.

People around the community said it was only the house of the political leader that was attacked by the Gunmen.
A PDP Chieftain who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident saying, “he was stabbed in the stomach and shot to make sure that he was dead.”
Family members and PDP said that they are yet to hear from the Abductors of the wife to know if she is alright and know their demands for her release.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident saying that the Police is investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, in a related story, the embattled factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State, Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and other executive members of his faction from ward to the state levels, as well as party members, have resigned their membership of the party and declared for the All Progressives Congress.
Announcing their resignation and subsequent defection to the APC on Saturday in Abakaliki, Nwebonyi said the decision was as a result of the undemocratic practices bedevilling the PDP.
Recall that Nwebonyi and other executives of the PDP in the state were sacked by the national leadership of the party following the defection of Governor David Umahi to the APC in November 2020.
The PDP leadership also appointed a caretaker committee led by Fred Udeogu to pilot the affairs of the party in the state.

But Nwebonyi and some PDP executives in the state rejected their dissolution and consequently, dragged the party to court.
The development led to multiple court cases that have been lingering for months.
