Nnamdi Kanu Says Dangote Is Nigeria’s Biggest Problem

The Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has slammed Africa’s Richest businessman, Aliko Dangote for allegedly exploiting Nigerians via the Dangote Cement Company.

The IPOB leader alleged that his cement is sold cheaper in other countries while the price is doubled in Nigeria.

Kanu made the allegation on Wednesday via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle.

The tweet reads: “In Zambia, Aliko sells cement for 55 Kwatcha (1150 Naira). But here in Nigeria, the same cement is going for 3,000 to 5,000 Naira.

“Dangote is the biggest problem in Nigeria(#Zoo), #EndNigeria #EndNigeriaNow #EndNigeriaNowToSaveLives”.

Aliko, the wealthiest man on the continent, is the founder of the Dangote Group, which is West Africa’s largest conglomerate.

The company also owns the largest cement producer in sub-Saharan Africa.

Aside from cement, the company also produces products such as sugar, salt, flour, steel, oil, and gas.

However, The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation and the former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, says Nigeria would have started producing its own oil if Dangote Refinery had existed years ago.

She said this during her visitation to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Monday.

According to her, the President/Chief Executive, Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko, should have been encouraged be encouraged in his efforts to build a refinery in the country.

The Presidency quoted Okonjo-Iweala as saying this during a press conference in a series of tweets.

Among the issues, Okonjo-Iweala reportedly discussed with the president during the meeting, include improving Nigeria’s share of global trade, developing Nigeria’s services sector, Covid-19, attracting investment, safe schools, training, and capacity building.

While answering questions on Dangote Refinery— the largest single-train refinery in the world, she was quoted as saying, “I wish we had done it years ago. If we had done it years ago and encouraged Alhaji Dangote, who is doing a good thing, we’d be producing our own fuel today.”
