Nnewi Community have elected a new Town Union Executive that will pilot the affairs of the town in the next four (4) years.
The election and inauguration of the new executive which took place on Sunday 11th April, 2021, at Nnewi Youth League Hall, saw Chief Maduka Atuenyi emerging as the new President-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi unopposed.
The Executive members which were elected after they were nominated from the different quarters includes, Hon. Jude Osunmuo, Vice President-General, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, Secretary-General and Mr. Azuka Emechebe, Treasurer.
Others are Afam Ejimbe, Financial Secretary, Mr. Obiora Okoye, Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chibunna Udegbunam, Social Welfare and Mr. Vincent Mbonu as Assistant Secretary.
The provosts are; Chukwudi Unachukwu (Otolo), Dennis Obi (Uruagu), Damian Okolo (Umudim) and Hon. Afam Agina (Nnewichi).
Speaking to the press after the election, the newly elected President-General, Chief. Maduka Atuenyi, who is currently the Chairman of Anambra South Vigilante Group (AVG), expressed happiness over the peaceful conduct of the election, noting that different quarters already had an understanding before the election.
Asked what he plans to achieve in the next one year, the Security Chief said that he doesn’t want to talk much, emphasising that leadership is defined by results.
He however assured that he will embark on wide consultation that will propel the development of Nnewi.
The election was supervised by officials Town Unions and Chieftaincy Matters, representatives from Anambra State Association of Town Unions, the Igwe’s Cabinet and the Election Committee headed by Chief Dennis Ofordeme.
