Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa earlier hinted that he would definitely return home to play for a club to help raise the standards of the Nigeria Professional Football League.
In an interview during his time at Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, Musa who has shown a lot of patriotism for Nigeria also urged current and ex-national team stars to endeavour to, at least, play for a season in Nigeria.
Musa left Riyadh based club Al –Nassr in 2020 with two years remaining of the four-year contract he signed when he joined from Leicester City.
He told ESPN that the decision to leave was entirely his own but both parties had come to an amicable, mutual understanding.

“I met with the club and requested that they should terminate my contract, and they were kind enough to agree to let me go.” He has returned to former club Kano Pillars where he scored 18 goals in 25 matches also urged fans to turn out en masse to support the league.
Kano Pillars announced the signing of Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa until the end of 2020/21.
Speaking on the possibility of playing in the NPFL, Musa told Legit.ng: “It is going to help a lot. I have one season to come and play in Nigeria. As you can see in Bauchi, Kano, Plateau, Enugu – when they play you see the stadium is always filled up. “Football is something that brings togetherness. With the beautiful footballers that our players are playing back home, I think we need more support from the fans.

“I can also see that the welfare of the players have improved with some clubs.”
The former CSKA Moscow who remains Nigeria’s all-time record scorer in the World Cup with four goals will now hope to complete a deal abroad when the summer transfer window opens. Several English clubs including West Brom Albion are reportedly interested in signing the pacy forward.
