JUST IN: EFCC Arrests Another Former Governor

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested Abdulaziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State, for suspected illicit financial dealings.

According to some sources, the anti-graft agency detained Yari at their office in Sokoto state.

The commission detained the former governor of Zamfara State after he was interviewed for several hours on Tuesday. Because of the seriousness of the corruption cases against him, a top EFCC official said that Yari will be detained for at least one week.

Why Okorocha Was Arrested By EFCC – Spokesman

In February, the EFCC challenged the former Governor in Lagos State.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the former Imo State governor Senator Rochas Okorocha.

Mr Okorocha was arrested Tuesday evening at his Unity House private office in Abuja, sources familiar with the matter told Newsmen.

This is the second time he’s been arrested in less than two months. The first being February 21 for unsealing a hotel owned by his wife but which was shut by the Imo State Government.

EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren confirmed to the online newspaper that the former governor was in the agency’s custody.

Okorocha Reveals EFCC Cells Are Of International Standard

Okorocha was arrested after a five-hour standoff with EFCC operatives who trailed him to the location.

The paper’s sources said the ex-governor had refused to honour the agency’s invitation for questioning on multiple corruption allegations against him.

Okorocha’s spokesperson Sam Onwuemeodo could not be reached Tuesday evening for comments.

Okorocha has been enmeshed in a political battle with his successor Hope Uzodimma who happens to be a member of the ex-governor’s political party, the All Progressives Congress.
