A group of young men suspected to be ravaging gunmen (UGM) presently tormenting the Southeast region, stormed the proposed Ebonyi Int’l Cargo Airport when they got information that His Excellency Engr.

David Umahi of Ebonyi State was coming to supervise works on the site and the hoodlums mobilized and stormed the proposed Cargo Airport at about 3:30pm to probably attack and possibly kill the governor but their paln never materialized as the Governor was ahead of them information wise.

Self-acclaimend eyewitness told newsmen that the heavily armed men arrived the proposed Cargo Airport on 7 Motorcycles and two vehicles armed to their fingers, “on getting to the site, they opened fire but God averted their bullets from hitting the Commissioner for Infrastructure Development, Engr Fidelis Nweze whom on suspecting the movement of the motorcycles, ran to the nearby bush and took cover, leaving behind his SUV Jeep.

“The gunmen then broke into the SUV and made away with the Commissioner’s laptop computer, architectural plan documents and money. They shot repeatedly on the air as took over the site for some time waiting for the arrival of the governor”; our source narrated.But luckily to the governor, the people of Ebonyi State and Nigeria by extension, Governor Dave Umahi, it was learnt, had gotten information about what was to happen and he stayed back.

“After waiting for some time without the governor arriving, the armed men moved away and invaded a nearby UBA bank close to Ezaa South Local Government Area headquarters, Onueke where they robbed the bank and leaving two policemen dead”; our source further revealed.

But conflicting report gathered, said it was an ordinary robbery incident that had nothing to do with the Unknown Gunmen even as the report distanced the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB from the ugly incident.

Efforts made to reach the Ebonyi State Police Command to speak on the matter, as of the time of filing this report failed.
