Buhari Approves Probe Panel For Suspended NPA MD, Hadiza Usman

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to investigate the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Usman was suspended from office on Thursday night by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi after a recommendation from the president.

According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President also approved the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, step aside while the investigation is carried out.

Mohammed Koko will act in her position pending conclusion of investigation.

The panel is to be headed by the Director, Maritime Services of the Ministry while the Deputy Director, Legal of the same ministry will serve as Secretary.

Other members of the panel will be appointed by the Minister.

Buhari had on January 21, 2021 re-appointed Bala-Usman for another tenure of five years as NPA boss.
