Sokoto state police command has rescued a 12-year-old girl, Joy Emmanuel, caged for eight months by her guardians identified as Bassey and Esther Emmanuel at their home in Sokoto Cinema area Sokoto North Local Government Area.
According to reports, Joy was locked up and deprived of food because of her unbalanced mental condition.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the state police command spokesman, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said the victim was rescued on Thursday, May 13 while the suspects were arrested and detained at Dadin Kowa police station.

Abubakar said the victim and the suspects would be handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Person and other Related Matters (NAPTIP) for further action.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State police command has arrested five notorious suspects involved in banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and illegal possession of firearms. The spokesman of the command, Shehu Mohammed, while parading the suspects on Friday at the Police Headquarters in Gusau, said the suspects were arrested due to collaboration between the police and the state leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

Mohammed further stated that the command would continue to join hands with group and people who are willing to work for the peace of the state and the region.
