The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Organizer Oil and Gas, Chief Innocent Okoli, has been elected as the new President-General of Uruagu Nnewi.
Chief Innocent Okoli who was elected yesterday, Saturday, 22nd May, 2021, in the highly contested election polled 82 votes to defeat his closest rival Hon. Eloka Clement Ikeh who amassed 61 votes, and Engr. Jude Nwachukwu who got 7 votes.
The election which held amidst tight security, also saw Mr. Mbazulike Iloka who polled 76 votes to defeat Mr. Izuchukwu Nwogbo had 41 votes, and Mr. Tony Muoka who got 25 votes.
Arthur Ngwube, the electoral Committee Chairman and Returning Officer, also announced Chikodili Nwaogwugwu, as the winner of the
Secretaryship position after he polled 90 votes to beat Azubuike Igbokwe who got 52 votes.
For other positions, Chris Ubah polled to emerge as Treasurer against Onyekwelu Udeze who had 50 votes, while Jude Eloham won the Financial Secretary position after amassing 60 votes to beat Ifenna Udengwu and Obinna Nkeanyimmuo who has 52 votes and 31 votes respectively.
Igwegbe Chiagozie got 83 votes to emerge as Assistant Secretary defeating Metu Okwudili, 33 votes, and Obinna Nwokenagu, 29 votes.
Mr. Ekedum Tochukwu, Nnebedum Emeka, and Ifeanyi Okeke were elected as Provosts.
Speaking after the election, the newly elected President-General of Uruagu Nnewi, Chief Innocent Okoli appreciated the delegates for believing in him, noting that the victory is for all residents of Uruagu Nnewi Community especially those who are passionate about the progress of the community.
Asked what should be the expectations of the people, he revealed that after he will unveil his plans during the inauguration.

The election was witnessed by Nnewi North Local Government Transition Committee, Hon. Prince Engr. Chukwudi Orizu, President-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Chief Maduka Atuenyi, Secretary-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Hon. Echezona Anazodo and other personalities.

Uruagu Community, is one of the communities in Nnewi North Local Government Area. The community is made up of fifteen (15) out of the 51 administrative wards of Nnewi.
Uruagu which is the second quarter among the four quarters of Nnewi town is made up of the following communities, Ndiojukwu, Umumejiaku Akaboedoji, Okpunoeze, Akaboukwu, Umumeagbu, Obiagu, Edoji, Okpuno, Umuezeagu, and Akaboezem.
As it is the norm in most communities, the custodian of culture and tradition in Uruagu-Nnewi is His Highness, Obi Charles Afamefuna Obi (Ogidi IV), while the Uruagu Nnewi Community Development Union (UNCDU) is headed by the President-General who is in charge of administration.
