Prophet TB Joshua, a popular preacher, healer, and televangelist, is dead, Anaedoonline can authoritatively report.

Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, the founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), died in his Lagos home on Saturday, the 5th of June, 2021. He was not ill.

In fact, he led a programme in his church that same evening.

The initial report quoted family sources who did not want to be named as an official statement was still being prepared, at that time, and they were still dealing with the shock of his demise.

TB Joshua was 57 years old.

Prophet Joshua reigned for several decades as a fiery preacher on television, first on Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, then on his cable channel, Emmanuel TV, using his platform to attract a large number of followers from across the world and running multilingual services.

Emmanuel TV, run by Prophet Joshua’s SCOAN, is one of Africa’s largest Christian broadcast stations, available worldwide via digital and terrestrial switches. Emmanuel TV is possibly a top contender among world Christian channels.

In 2014, TB Joshua and his ministry were at the centre of multi-national investigations following a section of his church headquarters in Lagos collapsing which left dozens dead and scores injured.

How was this possible in the church of a prophet famed for seeing tomorrow? Many wondered.

Prophet Joshua denied allegations of negligence and a trial over the incident is still underway prior to his demise.

In 2016, TB Joshua was dragged, as they say, on social media and offline for predicting the victory of Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at the US Election. Clinton lost to Donald Trump despite winning the popular vote.

In April 2021, YouTube blocked Emmanuel TV for trying to cure a gay person, a move the video-sharing social media site deemed to be discriminatory.

All these controversies are not TB Joshua’s legacies. He would be remembered for the love he sowed through his philanthropy. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in Nigeria and elsewhere benefitted from the gross of trucks of food items he shared over the decades.

There are people alive today who didn’t starve because of TB Joshua. The only Christ many people saw was through the love TB Joshua shared in the items he gifted indigent people across the states of the federation and overseas.

His preaching of love and salvation also served as comforting balms to many souls across the globe.

The cause of his death is not immediately disclosed to the media, but family sources said his remains had been deposited at the morgue and an autopsy would be performed immediately.

Born on June 12th, 1963, TB Joshua would have been 58 years old in a week’s time.

A former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode tweeted at 3 am to confirm this story, commenting that he is “deeply saddened by the passing of my brother”.

Emmanuel Ministries have confirmed this story. They released a statement at about 7 am this morning, on their social media pages, with the opening line from Amos chapter three which states, “Surely the Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servant.”

According to the statement, TB Joshua knew it was time to leave the earth. “There is time for everything,” he quoted the popular ecclesiastical verse during his last service; “time to come for prayers and time to return home after the service.”

The people listening didn’t know he was talking about a different home, a final home.

TB Joshua who was an indigene of Ondo State left behind his wife, Evelyn Joshua, and three children.

His last words on earth were “Watch and pray.”
