The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has once again defended the Eastern Security Network (ESN) over the alleged killing of military and police personnel.

The Nigerian government had accused the ESN of being responsible for the killing of scores of security operatives and destruction of government facilities including police stations and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC offices in the Southeast and some parts of South-South.

Reacting to the claim which the police and other security agencies have consistently accused the IPOB and the ESN of, Kanu stated categorically that his loyalists are not responsible for the attacks.

The IPOB leader noted that the ESN are not the unknown gunmen wreaking havoc in the South-East. Reacting through his official Twitter handle, the Biafra freedom fighter said the accusation by the government was a plot to justify “genocide attacks currently going on in the region”.

The tweet reads: “It’s pathetic that the Nigerian government & its security forces are now spreading the LIE that “IPOB Killed 128 Military, Police Personnel”.

“This lie is aimed at justifying the GENOCIDE that is currently underway in #SoutheastNigeria. Again, IPOB & ESN are not unknown gunmen”.
