Unknown gunmen on Sunday morning kidnapped a nun at Dim na Nume Isu in Nwangele local government area of Imo State.

This is just as an eyewitness reported the abduction of another worshipper at St Philip’s Anglican Church, in a separate incident in the same State.

Reports have it that the incident of the reverend sister occurred few minutes after the Church abduction.

The victim was reportedly driving in her car when the assailants overtook and forced her to stop.

A source said the kidnappers pushed her into their get-away car while one entered and drove her car behind.

In the other incident, the gunmen were said to have shocked worshippers when they invaded the Ohii parish of the Anglican Church midway through the service and kidnapped one Mrs lkenna Onwusoroaka at about 7:45 am.

Following the attack, the parishioners of Orogwe Archdeaconry holding their camp/conference in the premises were said to have abandoned the programme and fled the Church.

Reports said the kidnappers drove the victim away in their vehicle leaving the woman’s car behind.

The two incidents came at a time, relatives of one Chimezie Okpara who was also kidnapped on Friday at his Umudurunna home are still in quandary over his continued abduction.

Okpara was abducted when he was returning home from the market where he had gone to buy things for the burial ceremony of his brother’s father-in-law.

Sources said that more than 48 hours after the incident, the kidnappers are yet to make contact with the family.

As of the time of filing in this report, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bala Elkana, could not be reached as his phone was switched off.
