Odetomi served as a commissioner under the administration of late Abiola Ajimobi. He was a former chairman, Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Adewale Osifeso, said it was a robbery case.

He said, “The deceased, Olayemi Odetomi, aged 66 years, died on the spot after being shot during a robbery incident which occured during the early hours of Friday 25th June, 2021 in her home. Updates on Investigations would be provided in due course.”

There has been growing insecurity in Oyo State, especially in Ibadan in recent times. Many lives were lost during various violent activities last week.
