LaLiga has barred Barcelona from registering new players, because of their financial troubles, Goal reports.

Barca has exceeded LaLiga’s strict salary limit and until players leave the Nou Camp, new signings like Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia cannot be officially registered with the league.

Emerson Royal has also arrived this summer as the club chases mainly free transfers. Captain Lionel Messi is also currently a free agent after his deal expired on June 30.

Although negotiations are ongoing with Messi, Barcelona need to clear salary space to re-register him.

Players are being pushed to leave the club, some by choice and some out of sheer necessity for the urgent salary-cap situation.
