Minister Of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, Commissions 2 Innoson Plants And Robotic Spraying Booth In Nnewi

Today, 12th July 2021, another milestone in the growth of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Limited was witnessed as two manufacturing plants and an Automated Robotic Spraying Booth commissioned at the factory of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing at Uru, Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State by the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed.

The plants include the Innoson Small/Mini Bus Plant for manufacturing 1.5-liter engine capacity 7-seater and 10-seater buses, and the Innocent Connect/Caris Plant for the production of sedan cars branded Innoson Connect and Innocent Caris.

These plants combined have the capacity to produce 32 thousand vehicles per year and would employ about 1000 Nigerians.

The Automated Robotic Spraying Booth is the first of its kind in the whole country and is made to paint vehicles with elegance and at high speed.

In his welcome address, Chairman/CEO Innoson Group of Companies Ltd, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, OFR, who was visibly elated by the esteemed presence of the dignitaries from both the public and private sector said the presence their presence speaks volumes of the determination of the federal government to protect, support and give prime attention to indigenous efforts in industrialization.

He said, “It is gratifying to note that your presence in this factory is not only encouraging but would grant us the impetus to continue with further development in our expansion programme.

“I make bold to say,” he continued, “that industrialization of the country, through deliberate policies of government is the key to economic growth. No other sector can stimulate growth the way industries can do. That is why the government of developed nations place a high premium on industrial development, which is the veritable engine of growth in any economy.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I will not end this speech without commending the effort of the federal government, for their unflinching support and dogged determination to ensure that our investment survives the vagaries of our economic downturn.

We have come this far as a result of the various incentives, policies and concessions deliberately put up by the federal government, especially in the present regime of His Excellency, General Mohammadu Buhari GCFR. We, therefore, own our gratitude and appreciation to the federal government of Nigeria.”

Other attendees in the event include the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo the president of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Engr. Mansur Ahmed, the chairman of NADDC, Senator Osita Izunaso, etc.

The Chairman thanked all for their spirit of patriotism and sacrifice, in finding time to attend this commissioning event, in person. We shall remain grateful for your solidarity and support. I am really humbled by your presence. The Chairman/CEO IVM Co. Ltd Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma (MFR) led the dignitaries on a tour around the IVM facilities where he took his time to explain the various function and roles of different units and departments.

“IVM company Ltd has a total of 10 brands of vehicles and 2 new lines which will bring the brands to 12 different brands of vehicles,” he added.

The minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed in her remark assured manufactures of government support. She congratulated the Anambra state government, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, and his board for creating jobs for youths and the improvement of the economy. The minister of industry, trade, and investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo CON in his remark said the commissioning of this project is a move in the right direction.

He congratulated Innoson for the great achievement. Governor of Anambra state Chief Willie Obiano who was represented by his deputy Dr. Nkem Okeke thanked the honorable ministers for gracing the occasion, in his remark said, “Today is a very important day to not only IVM but to Ndi-Anambra as a whole.”

He added thus: “In the past seven years, we have created a conducive environment for manufacturing. Despite the challenges, Chief Innocent Chukwuma has continued to make an impact.”
