The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has been threatened by a Muslim group of losing his second term bid come 2023.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) in a statement signed by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, said the Muslim community in the state will patiently wait till the next election to ensure Makinde never make it for a second term.

Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the group stated this while reacting to Makinde’s claim that one of the mosques in the state, the Bodija Mosque, was built on part of the land earmarked for a recreation centre.

Recall that Makinde’s administration was earlier accused of earmarking a Muslim ‘Id praying ground situated at Bodija, Ibadan, for the construction of a recreation centre. According to MURIC, the recreational centre was the governor’s strategy to gradually eliminate Islamic landmarks in the state.
