Former Oyo Governor Senator Rashidi Ladoja has urged the Muhammadu Buhari-led government to grant amnesty to Sunday Igboho and IPOB’s Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking with newsmen in his Bodija residence on Tuesday, Ladoja warned that more of Igboho and Kanu will emerge if the federal government is not careful.
He stated that the agitators must be treated as criminals but should be given amnesty as is done to repentant Boko Haram members.

Ladoja said: “Federal government has declared amnesty for Boko Haram, they should also declared amnesty for Igboho and the IPOB leader.
“Just like Kanu, to some people, Sunday Igboho has also become a leader, people are agitating for what they believe in. Yoruba leaders including the Alaafin of Oyo have been complaining about atrocities committed by suspected herdsmen and nothing has been done to it till now.
“Boko Haram members were arrested a year ago by the government and have been released to the Borno State government.
“Sunday Igboho was created in the context of killings in Ibarapa axis of Oyo State. Nobody has been arrested for it and even if they were arrested, they were later released. That is why people resorted to self-help.”
Anaedoonline.ng had earlier reported that Sunday Igboho was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

He was arrested at the Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport on Monday night while attempting to flee to Germany, a top source familiar with the matter revealed.
Igboho was arrested by the security forces in Benin Republic about three weeks after the Department of State Services declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied.
While Nnamdi Kanu was reportedly rearrested in Kenya and extradited back to Nigeria on the 27th of June, 2021.
He was then arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako who ordered his remand in the custody of the DSS until his next trial date which is July 26 and 27.

Kanu, who is facing an 11-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, among others, jumped bail in 2017 and left the country, only to re-emerge in Israel and then in the United Kingdom.
