Ohanaeze Ndigbo has called on Southeast governors to come to the aid of the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Anaedoonline.ng reports that a faction of the pan Igbo socio-cultural organization made the call in a statement by its President-General, Engr Chidi Ibe, on Thursday.

According to Ohanaze, a soft landing for Nnamdi Kanu would help quell another round of violence that may engulf the southeast.

Ohanaeze urged southeast leaders to forgive Nnamdi Kanu for his excesses and secure his release from the hands of the Federal Government.

“They must forgive and close ranks, this is not the time for blame, accusations and counter-accusations,” the group said.

“The previous Nnamdi Kanu’s rantings and insults heaped on South East Governors and Igbo Elders were unbearable but the best way to forgive him is to secure his release.
