Nnewi: Uruagu Community Begins Fund Raising For Road Construction

Disappointed with the inability of Anambra State government to construct dilapidated roads in the community, Uruagu Nnewi Community has resorted to self-help to fix deplorable roads in the community.

Uruagu Nnewi, which is one out of the four communities in Nnewi over the years have continued to face the challenge of poor road infrastructure which have remained a nightmare to residents and visitors especially during the raining season.

The community which host one of the busiest market in Nigeria, Nkwo Nnewi Market, frustrated with the lack of government attention have decided to fix some of the deplorable roads in the community.

Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the road construction drive which is being spearheaded by the new President-General of the Community, Chief Innocent Okoli, is targeted at constructing major roads in the community through funds raised by indigenes of the community both home and abroad.

The community which have resorted to this self-help measure have raised over ten million naira through donations made by indigenes of the community in the first phase.

Uruagu Community is the worst hit in road infrastructure in Nnewi as much roads in Okpunoeze, Akaboezem, Edoji, Umuezeagu and Obiagu are currently in very deplorable state.
