The Principal Secretary to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has claimed that some members of the group are now particular about money — instead of the release of detained Nnamdi Kanu. Okorafor consequently disclosed that she is “taking serious notes”.

Kanu, who is standing trial for treason, is detained by Nigeria’s secret police, the State Security Service (SSS), in Abuja under a court order.

The IPOB leader was first arrested in October 2015 for demanding the secession of Biafra from Nigeria. He was later granted bail in April, 2017 on health grounds and fled the country in September of the same year.

Kanu, a Nigerian-British citizen, was rearrested in Kenya in June and extradited to Nigeria where he was remanded in the custody of the SSS.

He was accused of inciting violence in Nigeria and is facing an 11-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism, among other accusations.

Lately, there has been apparent disagreement over funding of the controversial Eastern Security Network (ESN), a vigilante group established by Kanu in December 2020.

Anaedoonline.ng recalls that the Special Counsel to Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, had on Saturday cautioned IPOB proponents against ‘quarreling publicly’, as it is ‘injurious to the legal interest of Kanu’.

Seemingly reacting to the fuss within IPOB, Okorafor wrote on her Twitter handle on Sunday: “People are more concerned with money then the release of @MaziNnamdiKanu ! I’m taking serious notes. Please put your energy on @MaziNnamdiKanu release and nothing else!!!”
