It is about a year since we saw the end of Season 5 “Lockdown” of the popular Big Brother Naija show, but some of the names of the housemate have remained engraved in our consciousness. Erica Nlewedom is one name that has tarried and posed to remain so years to come. While you know a lot of things about Erica Nlewedim, we believe there are a couple of things that you would find refreshing.

She was named after her father

Erica was born on the 13th of March, 1994, to Oby Nwokolo and Eric Christian Nlewedim whom she was named after. Erica is from Umuahia, Abia State. She was born Ngozi Erica Nlewedim.

She only met her dad once

Information from several sources claims that Erica has met her father just once in her life. It is said that she was raised by only her mother in Lagos State, Nigeria.

She is the only child both her parents share.

She schooled in Lagos

Erica fits into the category of youths who have had “quality education”. Her secondary school education was partly at Victory Grammar School, Lagos and Command Secondary School, Ikeja. Afterward, she became a graduate of Covenant University with a B.Sc in Business Administration. Discovering her on-screen talents, Erica attended the Met Film School, a private university in London where she studied Acting for Film for several months.

During an interview with the Guardian, she had explained that one of her greatest achievements in life is having graduated from the London film academy since acting is one of the things she is most passionate about.

She is an ex-beauty queen

Perhaps, one of Erica’s most obvious attributes is her beauty, and she has leveraged that to her advantage time and again. In 2014, she contested in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant, and with ease, she emerged fans favourite.

Even though she didn’t walk home with the crown, Erica won an award for the Most Photogenic. This was her foretaste of stardom and ushered her to ambassadorial openings with several known brands and personal bookings as well.

She has worked for an oil company.

Speaking in the early days of searching for breakthrough, Erica had explained that her mother wanted her to pursue a professional career and maintain a white-collar job. With her mother being insistent, Erica secured the position of Marketing Manager at MEI Oil and Gas company.

Seeing that the pay wasn’t huge enough and that her daughter was more passionate about acting, Erica’s mother allowed her to pursue her own dreams.

She has been acting since 2015

A year after winning over a lot of hearts with her appearance in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageantry, she made her film debut with a role in the TV series from 2015, Secrets and Scandals. She has gone on to feature in numerous films including the hit movie, “Hire A Woman” (2019), which is currently showing on Netflix.

Other movies and series she has featured in include Poka Messiah, Made In Heaven, Once Upon A Night, Dead Rites, Being Farouk, Paternity Deal, Royal Castle, Fractured, Win Or Lose. In all, she has featured in about 20 movies and TV series from her debut appearance till the date of this publication.

She is a model

Modelling comes naturally to Erica just as acting. She has graced several billboards across the country, modelling for a number of multinational brands including Peak Milk, Etisalat, Zaron Cosmetics, Access Bank, Jumia, Stanbic IBTC, Diamond Bank, Globacom, Hollandia amongst many others.

She owns a company

That’s right! Erica Nlewedim is the CEO of Beluxia Global Links, a beauty company. She began the company on her own, but now she runs it with her mother, Oby Nwokolo.

She has a soft spot for female action movie stars including Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron.

One dream is to be the main character in an action movie

In an interview with the Punch Newspaper, the beauty queen had said that she prefers action movies to romcoms and would definitely love to feature in one someday.

She would never go nude for fashion

Whilst nudity has grown wild in the fashion industry, Erica Nlewedim has said that going unclad in front of a camera is not something she sees herself doing.

She was the only housemate to be disqualified in the Lockdown House

You probably already know that. But do you still recall the story?

On the 6th of September, 2020, Erica was disqualified from the novel reality TV show for her infamous altercations with fellow housemate, Olamilekan (Laycon) Agbeleshe and several other disregards of the show’s rules just after 49 days in the Big Brother Naija house.

She owns a charity organization

With this charity, she was said to have fed over 1000 persons during one Yuletide festive.

Erica is single

Despite rumors of a relationship with BBN housemate, Kiddwaya and all they shared in the Lockdown House, Erica is single. A lot happened after the show.

She is currently working with comedian, AY, on a project set to be released in August 2021.

The 27-year-old actress is going to feature in the much-touted-about movie, Bitter Rain, a film by Ayo “AY” Makun set to be released in cinemas nationwide on August 13, 2021.
