Some daring armed robbers have reportedly written to notify a commercial bank in Oyo State of their planned ‘visit’.

According to reports obtained by Newsmen on Monday morning, the robbers had visited the bank during working hours and dropped the letter with a security guard.

The development stirred fears among other banks in the state and security agencies have increased their presence around all commercial banks in Oyo town.

It was gathered that the armed robbers had written to the branch many days ago, informing the manager to prepare for their attack soon.

Considering the security situation in the country, security agencies were quickly alerted to mount surveillance around the branch and other banks in the area.

According to reports, all other bank branches were as well surrounded by security men with the suspicion that the branch noted in the letter could be a plan to divert the attention of the security agencies.

“Security agencies are not treating the letter as a mere threat going by what is going on around the country. Criminals are everywhere and are increasing in Nigeria today, hence the letter cannot be taken as a joke,” a source said.

Reacting to the development in a statement, Police spokesman Adewale Osifeso said: “There is no such threat. Nonetheless, Oyo State Police Command under the constructive leadership of CP Ngozi Onadeko operates a robust and formidable security architecture that is all-encompassing to cater to the protection of lives and properties of the good citizens of the State.”
