The Founder of Ujali LTD, a UK-based Tech Startup that seeks to bridge the gap between tech talents and users, Onyinye Igbokwe was at Anaedoonline Third Anniversary Lecture on Friday, 27th August 2021, where she spoke on the Economic Advancement For Southeastern Nigerians Through Businesses.
Ms. Igbokwe who spoke visually started by proferring an explication of what economic advancement means; she defined it as a phase in business management that enables business owners to handle monetary challenges and still maintain financial stability.
She elaborated thus, “Economic advancement requires acute knowledge and intelligence of the kind of business you’re managing.”
She went on to point out the three stages of business economic advancement and creating job opportunities for business incubators which are: To create, to accelerate, and diversify. She used the UK, Nigeria, and Singapore as her case study.
She started with the UK where, “they support business incubators and encourage them to accelerate their created business and diversify.”
“Startups in these places are also funded by universities where they graduated from to establish and support them. Individual incubators from Southeastern Nigeria do not get such support and that’s a big difference.”
“So,” she continued, “in order to move the southeast companies forward, there is a need to understand that intellectual stability is the way forward for commercialization.”

The tech startup owner went further to analyze why Singapore stands out in economic advancement:

“Singapore is very intentional about what they need. The government provides 70% of what they need for a start-up. While in so many other places, the business incubators have both the mental stress and the financial stress to tackle.”

For young Southeastern Nigerian entrepreneurs,” she said in conclusion, “they’re very innovative with great ideas but they lack support.”
