A former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, has harped on the importance of education in ending banditry and insurgency in the country.

Aliyu while speaking in Abuja at the 2021 Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation 2021 scholars’ Mentorship Forum, said the lack of education in communities limits intelligence gathering to tackle security issues.

“If we don’t educate our population, Boko Haram, banditry will never end because there will be people willing to fight for their rights and they see that right in terms of the fighting because you are wearing a better cloth,” he said.

The human rights activist noted that bandit terrorists, Boko Haram insurgents and killer herdsmen are getting support and help from the government.

Adeyanju further stated that the criminals are not more powerful than the military, DSS, Police and other security agencies in the country.
