The DSS allegedly physically assaulted the professor on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 while on his way to Katsina.

In a statement to newsmen on Monday, the union’s chairman, Professor Haruna Musa and secretary, Dr Musa Umar Madugu, asked the DSS to investigate the assault and punish those responsible or ASUU would institute legal action.

“We all know that the statutory responsibility of security personnel is to protect lives and property not to harass, intimidate and assault innocent citizens.

“Alas, DSS operatives are notorious for crass violation of fundamental human rights of innocent Nigerians through torture and assault.

“We recall that sometime in 2012, they invaded ASUU-BUK secretariat at Old Campus and assaulted our then ASUU Kano Zonal coordinator and immediate past branch chairperson in their attempt to abduct him.

“Therefore, we urge the DSS to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book in order to stop the anarchy, torture and harassment of innocent Nigerians.
