The Alliance for Oke-Ogun Development (AOD) has demanded the probe of the recent visit of renowned Islamic cleric, Abubakar Ahmad Gumi to Igboho town in Oyo State.

Recall that Gumi alongside the former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Health Insurance Scheme, Usman Yusuf, had visited the town last week, calling on Yoruba Nation agitators to shelve their agitation for secession.

Anaedoonline.ng reports that the town is the hometown of the embattled jailed Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The group also asked the secret police to investigate the person who played host to Gumi, saying that such a person is ready to sell out to terrorists.

The statement added that the cleric’s visit to Igboho town is suspicious and provocative, following his recent call for amnesty for the bandits.

According to the group, Gumi’s visit was part of moves to ‘Fulanise’ the Oke-Ogun area.

It reads: “It is more disturbing that an indigene of Oke Ogun can willingly be a host to a personality like Gumi, we want the DSS to investigate the real reason for his visit; the host must equally be investigated. The man is the one saddled with the responsibility of championing the course of amnesty for the bandits.
