Enugu Senator, Chukwuka Utazi, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to change the way he addresses the people of the South East region.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Utzai urged Buhari to always show empathy when talking to the Easterners and not talk down on them.

The lawmaker representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly advised Buhari to engage the stakeholders to address violence going on in the region.

The lawmaker, however, stated that once the President devotes time to addressing the easterners, the agitations would come to an end.

He said: “I want to tell you that Mr President has the magic wand. His attitude, language to the South-East, he has to change it.

“The temperature is high. The way he talks down on our people is not good.”

Utazi stated that a stable Nigeria is best for the Igbos, calling on the separatist groups in the South East to shun their agitations and embrace dialogue.

The Senator revealed that an Igbo presidency in 2023 would not fix the agitations and killings going on in the region, urging the President to address the fundamental things affecting the South East.

He added, “I have said it times without number that changing the Hausa-Fulani cap with red cap does not address the issue.
