The SouthEast Igbo Youth Leaders/Stakeholders Forum on the 6th of October, 2021 has come out to condemn the meeting and communique of the southeast Governors and Leadership Security meeting that took place on 5th October, 2021.

The past few weeks have seen a rapid decline in the security of the southeast, with the unknown gunmen menace looming at every corner. In response to the heightened insecurity in the region, the Southeast Governors and Leaders on Tuesday 5th October 2021 held an emergency security meeting which included the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Governors, Legislators, Traditional Rulers, Clergies, etc, with no representation of the youths.

In response to the communique from the meeting, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, Spokesman, SouthEast Igbo Youth Leaders/Stakeholders Forum released a five-point communique expressing their displeasure and disappointment at the non-inclusion of the youth on a matter that mostly involves angry and irate youths.

THE POLITICAL LEADERSHIP OF THE SOUTHEAST ARE NOT JUST UNSERIOUS BUT ALSO INSINCERE.

  1. We the SouthEast Igbo Youth Leaders/Stakeholders hereby acknowledge, with disappointment, the communique from the meeting of the South East Governors and Leaders, held in Enugu on Tuesday 5th October, 2021.
  2. It is improper that the South East Political Leadership, comprising Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Governors, Legislators, Traditional Rulers, Clergies etc, could continue to hold Meetings affecting the Youths in the region and not recognizing or accommodate the Youth.
  3. We condemn in the strongest terms, the senseless killings in the region and also commend the security agencies for the relentless efforts to restoring the confidence of the masses in the possibility of Protection of Lives and Property.
  4. Aside the fair Share of the National Insecurity, the Challenges facing South East cannot be divorced from Angers of the Youth and Mal-administration; and therefore cannot be solved without the Youths. We cannot continue to do the same thing and expect a different result.
  5. We hereby demand that a proper stakeholders meeting of the region should be expeditiously convened with adequate Youth representation in order to maximize impact and serve the purpose.

A stitch in time, saves nine. Together, Ala Igbo is Safe and Secure.

Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu
