Amidst the plans to borrow money to fund the 2022 budget deficit, President Muhammadu Buhari and his aides are set to spend N301m on foodstuff and catering materials as budgeted by the Presidency.

Anaedoonline.ng reports that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his aides would also spend N157m on foodstuff and catering materials totalling N458m for both offices.

In the budget estimates submitted to a joint session of the National Assembly last week Thursday, the Presidency has proposed N5.23bn for the annual general maintenance of the Presidential Villa.

A careful study of the 2022 budget revealed that the Presidency will spend N5.2bn on rehabilitation/repair of office buildings, while the residential buildings will take N55m out of the N150bn expected to be spent.

The breakdown of the Appropriation bill showed that the ongoing construction of the presidential wing in the State House Medical Centre is expected to gulp N21bn.

According to the estimate, the ongoing phased replacement of vehicles and spares will cost N1.6bn compared to the N436m set aside for a similar purpose in the 2021 proposal.

The Presidency will spend about N180m to buy tyres for bulletproof vehicles, plain cars, CCU vehicles, platform trucks, jeeps, ambulances and other utility and operational vehicles, compared to N116m spent last year.

The replacement of Villa telecommunication infrastructure will take N400m.
