A police inspector has been injured during an attack by gunmen on a police patrol team on Kolo-Ogbia road in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the gunmen suspected to be cultists also took away the inspector’s rifle during the attack.
According to the police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, the incident occurred around 10:45pm on Monday.

Butswat said the police officers were attacked while conducting stop and search operations along Kolo-Ogbia road, saying that an investigation is ongoing on the matter.
He, however, disclosed that the Inspector only sustained an injury as against reports that he was killed during the attack.
He said: “Police officers who were conducting stop and search operations along Kolo-Ogbia Road, were attacked by gunmen suspected to be cultists, on 11 October 2021, at about 2245hours.
“A Police inspector was fatally injured and his rifle was carted away. An investigation is ongoing to apprehend the gunmen and recover the stolen rifle.”
