Anambra Decides: See What State Government Said On Residents Fleeing Over Insecurity

The Anambra State Government has reacted to the claims that eligible voters in the state are dashing out in large numbers ahead of the governorship election in the state today (Saturday).

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, while reacting to the report described it as false.

Adinuba in a statement released on Saturday stated that eligible voters are travelling down to the state to participate in the electoral process.

He noted that the attention of the state government was drawn to a report (not by this news platform) that people are leaving Anambra due to security issues in the state.

Adinuba further stated that the people of the state are not expressing fears of any possible political violence before and during the vote.

The Commissioner in the statement said, “Our people are very conscious of their roots, and so usually register to vote in the state even when they live and work elsewhere.”

Adinuba added that many citizens of the state following the declaration of Thursday and Friday as public holidays in the state have travelled to their various places to vote.

“It is, therefore, wrong for any news medium to claim that Anambra people are leaving the state in droves for fear of political violence.

“If the journalist who wrote the report claiming an exodus had bothered to seek clarification or explanation of the new development, he wouldn’t have written the sensational report.

“It is surprising that a journalist could file such a report without checking with the government, despite the well-known, open-door policy of this administration towards the media.”

He charged people to come out early to cast their votes for their preferred candidate.
