Former First Lady, Adejoh Reign In Maiden IBB Past Lady Captains Cup (Photos)

The maiden edition of the IBB Lady captains Cup held at the IBB international golf and country club, Abuja on Saturday, November 6, 2015.

A total of 152 golfers participated in the one-day tournament which had past captains of the ladies section of the club from 1992 to 2019, contest for the inaugural champions title.

The Past Lady Captains Cup is initiated by Lady Captain MaryRose Richard-Obioha as an annual tournament for all former lady captains of IBB Ladies Section of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, to celebrate and appreciate women in sports and compete in a friendly sporting environment.

Over the course of 18 holes, 2005 lady captain, Christie Adejoh, paced ahead of others with a Nett score of 76 points and 98 Gross, playing off 23 handicaps to emerge the overall winner.

She was closely followed behind with a two-point difference by 2009 Lady Captain,Farrah Wada who finished with 77 points from 92 Gross on a Handicap of 15.

Adejoh boasted with her trophy as the first ever champion of the Lady Captains Cup, making her a second-time winner in an IBB Ladies Section organised championship. She is the past winner of the 2013 IBB Ladies Close Championship.

The 2021 Lady Captains Cup had 21 former lady captains from IBB ladies section of the IBB International Golf and Country Club which included the sections pioneer lady captain, Agatha Nnaji (1992 – 1994) and immediate past, Mande Audu (2019)

Best Nett score of the day was recorded by S. Awoyungbo.

Other categories played in the day had women in Division One with Handicap of 0-18 play for the best Nett score which was won by D. Mamaza with 76 nett points from 93 Gross and 17 Handicaps.

S. Nkwanza won the division two for women with Handicap 19 – 28, finishing with 76 points from 105 Gross and 30 Handicaps.

The Veteran Ladies category Saw F. Anyanwu gross 104, with a Handicap of 26 to finish with 78 Nett points in the lead position while T.C Owuama won the Super Veteran ladies division with 77 Nett points, 109 Gross and a Handicap of 32.

The Men also saw action on the day in five categories.

E . Edoka won Handicap 0 – 9 Division with 70 Nett points, 76 gross shots and 6 handicaps.

C K. Osuhor topped the chart in the Handicap 10 – 18 category with 69 Nett, 86 Gross and 17 Handicaps.

G. Elegbeleye won Handicap 19 – 28 division with 67 Nett, 87 Gross and a Handicap of 20.

A. Emozozo scored 69 Nett points from 84 Gross and 15 Handicap to win the Veteran Men division while T. Amanambu with a Handicap of 17, grossed 98 to amass a Nett score of 81 to win the Super Veteran Men category.

Winners were rewarded with their prizes at the award presentation, after the end of contest on the course.

Adejoh received her Lady Captain trophy from the current IBB Ladies Captain and initiator of the Past Lady Captains Cup, Lady Captain MaryRose Richard-Obioha.

All participating Past Lady Captains were awarded plaques as memoirs for the momentous event.

Richard-Obioha and the entire ladies section also honored a former FCT Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Chairman, Kayode Adeniyi who celebrated his birthday on the same day, at the event.
