To position Nnewi as a tech hub in the southeast, the Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, has announced the plan of the Diocese to build a world-class Robotics and Coding Center.
The Diocese which is in partnership with Edufun Technik STEM Center is currently training students of about sixteen (16) secondary schools in Nnewi, in Coding and Robotics.
According to the Bishop, the Diocese will be the first Anglican Diocese in Nigeria to build a Robotics and Coding Center which will help young people in the town not to be left out in the 21st-century digital revolution.

The Bishop who has directed the Diocesan School Board to incorporate coding and robotics studies into its curriculum in order for it to be successfully established and maintained in the system, has also said that the Diocese will build Robotics and Coding Center within Nnewi.
The coding and robotics training which have already started in Anglican Girls Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi will be extended in all secondary schools in the Diocese
According to the founder of Edufun Technik, Uchenna Onwuamaegbu Ugwu, their organizations will also be establishing a STEAM Lab in some schools so the students will continue to have access to 21st-century quality education and be prepared for the future of work.
It will be recalled that Uchenna Onwuamaegbu Ugwu was the brain behind Save a Soul, a team of five students from the Regina Pacis Secondary School Onitsha in Anambra State, which won Junior Gold during 2018 Technovation World Pitch in Silicon Valley, San Fransisco, United States.

The team which won a place in the challenge with the idea for an app that detects fake drugs, called the FD Detector, was the only African team to participate in the challenge, and competed with teams from China, Uzbekistan, Spain, Turkey, and The United States in the finals.
