Nnewi industrialist and philanthropist, Chief Sir. Louis Izuchukwu Carter Onwugbenu, has said that his businesses transformed to another level after he single-handedly built a church in his local community, Uruagu Nnewi.
Speaking to Anaedoonline.ng, Chief Onwugbenu who is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Louis Carter Group of Companies, recalled that to commemorate his 50th birthday celebration and 25th years wedding anniversary in 2003, he built and handed over to the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, a Church building, Parsonage, Church Hall and Chapel of Adoration (built-in memory of his late parents Augustine and Cecilia Onwugbenu).
According to him, when he started building the structures, it was difficult and he wanted to suspend the plan, but to the glory of God, and also the reduce the sufferings of his people who trekked long distances to attend Catholic liturgical mass, he built the gigantic church building, with a church hall, chapel, parsonage, multi storey structures for Nursery, Primary and Secondary school.

He revealed that after the dedication of the church, St Louis Catholic Church, his businesses took a great leap to his surprise, he said that the kind of money he made within a few years after he handed over the structures to the church, has continued to marvel him till date.
Still, on the church project, he stated that when he decided to build the church, it was difficult to get the parcel of land, he noted that it took the efforts of his godfather, the late Joseph Okoye, then a school headmaster, and Rev. Father Kettles for the present land to be secured.
The billionaire businessman who has over five hundred persons in his scholarship scheme noted that he was born to great and dedicated Catholic parents who nurtured and laid the foundation, noting that has made him to continue to invest heavily in the church, revealing that many Catholic Priests and Reverend Sisters are on his payroll.

Speaking further, Louis Carter who is one of the richest men in Anambra State, emphasized that no amount of resources one commits invest in the work of God is enough, noting that nothing is enough to measure the kindness and blessings of God.
