Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, claimed on Monday that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government will repatriate Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator who was prosecuted in the Benin Republic.

This assertion was made by Malami during a Channels TV interview on Monday.

Igboho was wanted by the Department of State Services for allegedly stockpiling arms in his home, which he denied.

Igboho has been held in a Benin Republic jail for almost six months, where he is accused of committing immigration-related offenses among other things.

On Monday, Malami commented on Igboho’s predicament, saying that he is being prosecuted for breaking Benin Republic regulations.

“We’ll let the law of a nation that was truly broken have its natural course,” he continued, “and then potentially send him back home when the trial is finished for the purpose of confronting the Nigerian law that was properly broken.”
