Former Senate President Pius Anyim’s presidential ambition has been backed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s combined Minority Caucus in the National Assembly.

Anyim notified the caucus of his desire to compete for the country’s highest position at a meeting on Tuesday night at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

Anyim informed the parliamentarians that he needed their permission since he couldn’t move forward without the backing of his main supporters.

And I suggested, “Let’s have this formal outing,” and he agreed.

“And the purpose of this official outing is to let people know that we support the PDP. The PDP is something we are quite proud of. The PDP is something to which we are dedicated. And the PDP holds the key to our future.

Eyinnaya Abaribe, the Senate Minority Leader, spoke on behalf of the joint caucus and endorsed Anyim’s candidacy, assuring him of their support.

Former legislators, he claims, make better executives in the long run.

“Something occurs everywhere in the globe,” he explained. Members of the National Assembly do far better than anybody else in executive positions because they understand how to manage the opposing side.

It will be quite tough for us to do this.
