In Borno State, Nigerian Army troops are said to have killed a commander of the Islamic State of West Africa ISWAP.

Mohammed Yusuf, the young terrorist slain, is claimed to be the son of Goni Maina, who was named after Boko Haram’s founder.

Following the assassination of his father, Yusuf was promoted to commander, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Maina was the previous leader and governor of the ISWAP’s Lake Chad group. On December 1, 2020, he was killed in a combined air attack by the Nigerian Army and Air Force.

However, according to reports acquired on Friday (today), Yusuf has joined his father in the hereafter.

He was apparently killed by Nigerian military air strikes near Bukar Mairam, in Borno State’s Marte Local Government Area (LGA), on the western shore of Lake Chad.

In Marte, the adolescent held the status of Commander “Rijal Amne.”

According to the report, more than 100 militants were killed during the air attack, including “many high-ranking insurgent commanders, foot troops, and Hisbah police from the ISWAP group, late Abubakar Shekau party, and international mercenaries.”
