The Police Service Commission has ordered the Nigeria Police Force to complete its investigation into the case of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari within two weeks.

In a statement issued on Friday, the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, instructed that the probe be conducted by a new panel.

The decision was made at the Commission’s 14th plenary meeting, which was headed by Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector-General of Police and Chairman of the Commission.

Kyari was the chief of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team prior to his suspension.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America had indicted Kyari in a fraud case involving internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

A panel set up by the IGP Usman Alkali had forwarded a report to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for legal advice.

However, Malami on Monday disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the United States government are discussing the possible extradition of the suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari.
