Buildings reportedly belonging to suspected members of the Eastern Security Network have been razed by armed men posing as security operatives in Imo State (ESN).

According to Anaedoonline.ng, ESN is the security arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Security operatives are said to have stormed the communities of Umuonyeoka Ihitteafoukwu and Okponkume in the Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo in search of one Uche Madu, who is said to be an ESN member.

“While I do not condone any indigene of Ihitteafoukwu land to be involved with any unlawful act or criminal activities, it is still pertinent to state that the invasion and arson perpetrated in our land today is highly condemnable and ill-advised,” Obasi said.

He called on the government to intervene and get to the root of the matter.

Another source in Okponkume community said the armed security operatives also burnt down the house of one Ekene, another suspected ESN member.

They burnt down the houses of his neighbours located in the same compound.

“Unidentified security men came to Okponkume, arrested Ekene and burnt down his house and neighbour’s. It’s believed the security men are after ESN members,” the source said.

When contacted for a reaction, the state’s police spokesperson, Michael Abattam did not answer calls or respond to messages sent to him.
