Ohanaeze Blasts Those Saying They Have Not Done Enough For Igbo Presidency

On Monday, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igboland’s apex socio-cultural organization, urged other parts of the country to back a Nigerian president of Igbo descent in 2023.

Prof George Obiozor, the group’s President-General, stated in Owerri, Imo state, that “wherever the country selects its President in 2023 will send a strong message to Ndigbo.”

When asked if Igbo are campaigning well across the country, Obiozor stated that Igbo have been pushing for their right to leadership in Nigeria since 1960.

“Anyone who claims that we haven’t campaigned sufficiently for the Igbo President in 2023 is guilty of historical fallacy,” he continued, “since many of us know how frequently those rights and chances have been denied or rejected with impunity.”

“How can one be accused of creating a fuss over marginalization or discrimination in important sectors of Nigerian politics while also being accused of not campaigning sufficiently for the presidency in 2023?”

“Ndigbo have campaigned for any relevant national political office since the end of the war.

“Most Nigerians with a conscience and Nigerian friends both within and outside the nation know this to be true.”

He believes that a Nigerian president of Igbo descent will unify the country and revive national optimism in 2023.
