The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has distanced itself from a circulating 2023 general election timeline.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, a story has previously circulated the internet area, detailing the procedures and timing for the opposition party’s primaries ahead of the general elections in 2023.

The PDP responded with a statement on Sunday through its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, describing the viral messages as fraudulent.

The actions for the 2022/2023 electioneering year, according to Ologunagba, did not come from the party.

The PDP spokesperson noted that no such document was signed and distributed by the National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, while emphasizing that the election timeline was the creation of malicious people seeking to cause confusion in the party.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP is a Party of Due Process,” the statement said, “and will produce a Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2022/2023 electioneering year following significant deliberation and approval by crucial and statutory organs of the party at appropriate levels.”

The PDP has urged all of its members and the general public to disregard anything in the viral article.

According to Ologunagba, the appropriate time, official Timetable and Schedule of Activities of the PDP will be made public when due and not as circulated on social media.

The party urged all members and Nigerians, in general, to remain focused and not allow themselves to be distracted in their determined mission to rescue and rebuild the nation from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
