On Saturday, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is ready to regain its mandate from Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi.

Wike stated that the PDP was prepared to take the matter to the Supreme Court in order to retrieve its mandate from Umahi.

In Port Harcourt, the state capital, he spoke during the launching of the Eastern Bypass Road.

“If our party had done this earlier, when people were leaving the National Assembly,” Wike says, “we would not have had the situation we have today.”

“One of the issues with party leadership is this. People are unable to confront the bull by its horns. So, Governor Umahi, rest certain that the PDP will take this case all the way to the Supreme Court.
We’ll keep working on the problem.

“You carry another party’s votes and join another party.” Is it possible to transfer votes? You labor hard for someone to win an election, only to find out the next day that they have deserted.

“Leave the seat if you know it’s simple if you’ve defected.” And this will checkmate the majority of the political harlots who will never sit in the same location twice.”

Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, were fired by an Abuja Federal High Court.

Gov Umahi Finally Reveals Real Reason Why He Dumped PDP For APC

Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that Umahi can not transfer the votes that got him into power under the PDP into the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The judge had ordered INEC to stop recognizing Umahi and his Deputy and asked the PDP to send names to the electoral umpire for their replacement.

The court said Umahi had forfeited his governorship when he defected from the PDP to join the ruling APC last year.

But, an Ebonyi State High Court, sitting in Abakaliki, on Thursday, ordered Umahi to remain in office.
