The Nigeria Police Force has reacted to reports that certain officers will go on strike starting March 26, 2022.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on Monday night describing the story as false.
The spokesman described it as a nefarious attempt by unscrupulous persons to defame the Force, misinform the public, and inflame the political climate.

Adejobi stated that the police force is a structured and disciplined organization with established norms and protocols for resolving concerns, and that strike action is not one of them.
He stated that the employees are well aware that any security group that engages in a strike or other purposeful interruption of law enforcement services is mutinous.
The police said the IGP is stepping up efforts to ensure full implementation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s proposed salary and allowance increases, which were approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He noted that the president ordered the process of boosting pay and allowances without any request from the police.

The federal government and IGP Usman Baba are both completely committed to implementing the new wage package, according to the statement.
Baba reiterated that police officers are well motivated with the ongoing reforms, especially the provision of kits, accoutrement, body armor and the cooperative society’s housing scheme.
He further mentioned the renovation of training schools, upgrade of police training curriculum, procurement and deployment of technology to boost ICT-driven policing.
